The Recreational Therapist’s Guide To Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: Part 1

*This course has been pre-approved by NCTRC for 5 clock hours.

Learn about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and how Recreational Therapists can use this therapy in their practices. Learn the background of CBT practice, the CBT step by step therapeutic process, the various CBT applications for specific people groups and diagnoses, the biological changes that happen as a result of using CBT, and what considerations a Recreational Therapist should be aware of when treating patients using CBT. Learner will need to pass a quiz with at least 70% at the end of this course to be awarded the completion certificate. This is ‘Part 1 of 2’ in the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Course

Course Objectives

*This course is divided into two parts

  • Learner will demonstrate basic understanding of how Recreational Therapists can use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques in their practices

  • Learner will demonstrate background knowledge of CBT practice

  • Learner will demonstrate knowledge of the step by step technique of applying CBT

  • Learner will demonstrate understanding of applications of CBT for various people groups and diagnoses.

  • Learner will demonstrate understanding of the biological changes that will result of using CBT techniques

  • Learner will demonstrate understanding of what considerations a Recreational Therapist should be aware of when treating patients using CBT

Instructor Bio:

Nathan Lamaster is a nationally Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) from Tyler, Tx who has started a handful of both TR and non-TR businesses throughout his career as well as worked in a variety of TR settings as a practitioner.
